Re: Hans Moser

Steve,

I have found a Johann Moser of KüFlGr106

17.6.42

Ju 88A-4 5779 M2+MH

Uffz Heinrich Hendrich (F)
Uffz Johann Moser (B)
Gefr Gerhard Köhnlein(?)(Bf)
Gefr Helmuth Wittig (Bs)

All listed as missing

Location and circumstances of loss unknown.

Entry under Luftflotte 3 on page 6 of the losses reported on 20.6.42

Maybe someone else can expand on this.

Note - this is one of three aircraft recorded as lost by this unit on this date.

Re: Hans Moser

Hello Steve,

I think this is your guy. Uffz Moser was observer in the Uffz Hendrich crew flying the Ju 88 A-4 5779 of „K.Fl.Gr. 106 Kampf“, so the entry in the Gen.Qu. loss return.
According to the data base "www.luftwaffe-zur-see.de" on 17 June 1942 they attacked the convoy HG 84 and were probably shot down by the destroyer HMS „Wild Swan“ in the area west of Ireland. In this data base the spelling is Meser.

Leo

Re: Hans Moser

Hi Steve,

see post #2, Andy has given the names of the crew. In the Gen.Qu. loss return from 20 June 1942 item 79 the crew is listed as missing. In the correction from 29 Oct 1942 is noted "Besatzung Hendrich gefallen".

Regards
Leo

Re: Hans Moser

Probably not

The basic name form has to be Johannes and out of that you can create a large number of shortforms, nicknames etc.
Johann, Hans, Hannes are just three examples.

Cheers
Stig

Re: Hans Moser

Hi Steven,

the spelling of a first name in a death card is no proof for the correctness. Authoritative is the official spelling in the birth certificate which is not present to us.

Leo
