10.April 1945

Hello
During a visit to the district archives of Neustrelitz, the list of wargraves of the village Ahrensberg was found. It says that the body of a German pilot was found into the "Kleiner Wagnitzsee". Date of discovery unknown (must be after the 30.4.1945). It is said that the pilot drowned after parachute jump, the date of his death is named with 30.4.1945 ( I beleave this date is fictitious). The name seemed familiar to me. Lieutenant Rudolf Zingler. It can only be Lt.Zingler from I./JG7. The last air battles of the JG7 were on 10.4.1945 in this region. So Lt.Rudolf Zingler could be one of the many unknown and missing pilots of the JG7 from 10.4.1945. About 25km southwest of his death place a Me262 came down. On the crash site the remains of a letter with the fieldpost number of the 3./JG7 was found. To understand the events of 10/4/1945, who can call me flight routes of the Americans, claims, encounter reports, weather conditions.
Many thanks, Rene

Re: 10.April 1945

I too flew on the 10 April 1945 mission escorting bombers to targets at Oranianberg. After shooting down Oberleutnant Walter Schuck I was shot down by ground fire whilst strafing Schoewalde airfield. I may be able to provide you with some of the information your looking for. Joe
