Re: Ancestry - 2.4m WW2 German 'Gefallen' Cards

Fantastic - thank you.

With Hierl - was he in a reconnaissance squadron?

Was Ruhrmeier in a Luftwaffe Feldwebel division?

Correct for the first one and Luftwaffen- Felddivision for the second (I'm assuming autocorrect put Feldwebel for you.)

Yes, these are Karteikarten from the WASt. Interesting that they are now digitally available and on line. Indeed I found no records of KIA after summer 1944 and also no MIA.

Re: Ancestry - 2.4m WW2 German 'Gefallen' Cards

I managed to log on and join. There are very few cards from summer 44 onwards. On the whole though it is excellent for research purposes that these have been released. I imagine that they are much more useful to those of us researching ground forces rather than naval men or shot down aircrew where there was little chance of finding out details at the time. For me they are a great help researching the Battle of Crete for instance, with cause, place and even time of death on the kia reports.

Hi,

Would anyone be able to find information on the following men serving with Luftwaffe Field Divisions:

Feldwebel Georg Schleicher born 11.11.17 and fell 13.12.43

Jäger Adolf Konig Von Regen and fell 03.12.43 aged 21

Obergefreiter Erich Stellmach born 08.07.20 and fell 19.01.43

and lastly,

Gefreiter Willi Hecht born who fell 29.04.43

Thanks
