I did not see the aircraft W.Nr. on your website, but the Gen.Qu.6 Abt report (via Jim Perry) identifies the Ju 88 as a D-5, W.Nr. 430030.

Best Regards,

ArtieBob

Welcome Rolf, great work there!

ArtieBob, You have quoted the Ju88 as a D-5, I have listed the Ju88 430030 as a D-1 as has Rolf. Could you or the members confirm the correct type please?
Regards

Correct is Ju 88 D-1 (VS 11 wood props) for the Auschner crash, and visible on photos of that crash
Here: http://www.hoelti.de/auschner/images/irland_3_2.jpg

But before another (30 Er) crash (on 30.10.1942) it was Ju 88 D-5 version (VDM metal props). There are many cases of Ju 88 D-5´s becoming Ju 88 D-1´s after repairs.

Thanks Ed, on the ball as ever. I should have realised that it had wooden props as I visited that crash site many times and photographed the hub.
Best regards

Hi Rolf , great to see you using this forum and promoting your website on the JU88 crash . I have also spent much time researching this crash and tracing the families of the fallen airmen . Such research is so rewarding, keep up the good work .

Justin Horgan
