Re: 2021 edition Officer Careers
Under RW 59 you will find Personalunterlagen, Personalveränderungen, Rang/Dienstalterlisten and Stellenbesetzungen. But you have to go to Freiburg to view content.

Re: 2021 edition Officer Careers
Thanks, Jörn, but I think RW 59 and the c. 40,000 pages below are one and the same. This was our primary source for Lw.OCS once I discovered it in the early 1980's. As you can see, it was filmed by the U.S. National Archives in Washington back in the 1950's/early 1960's before being returned to the Bundesarchiv in Germany.
Oberkommando der Wehrmacht, Abteilung für Wehrmachtpropaganda; 57 folders (Geheim-Akten) of “Personalveränderungen” (officer promotions, reassignments, discharges, temporary assignments, etc.) for the Heer, Luftwaffe and, to a much lesser extent, the Kriegsmarine. The 39,976 pages in the collection cover Apr 1939 to Oct 1943 plus a single folder for Aug 1944, but is incomplete, especially for the Luftwaffe. The 26 rolls of microfilm can be found in, NARA WashDC: RG 242/T-77 rolls 937-963, filmed continuously from 4407277 – 4447252. Comprises: (1) Personalveränderungen in der Dienstaltersliste – A (Truppenoffiziere); (2) Personalveränderungen in der Dienstaltersliste – B (Ergänzungsoffiziere); (3) Personalveränderungen in der Dienstaltersliste – C (Offiziere des Beurlaubtenstandes); (4) Personalveränderungen in der Dienstaltersliste – D (Kriegsoffiziere); and (5) Personalveränderungen in der Dienstaltersliste – E (Offiziere z.V., ausser Dienst, Beurlaubtenstand a.D.). Re: 2021 edition Officer Careers
I think the content of RW 59 LW part is much larger, because it goes to 1945.

Re: 2021 edition Officer Careers
Interesting, Jörn.............
Unfortunately, Doug and I are too old now to fly to Freiburg for research. But it's a good project for some of our younger members, especially if they are independently wealthy and have the time to spend. Doug and I spent 30+ years going through the 40,000 pages that I mentioned. It's very time-consuming because each entry (often 30 to 35 per page) has to be checked and then the information extracted and typed into our Lw.OCS. I think it would be much easier to work with the Karteikarten, should they ever become available. L. |
