Re: Photo USNAF Aircraft
Ready is the likely meaning as it certainly fits here. On 14/15 April 1945 Air Group 2 finished training at San Diego and moved to Alameda for transportation to Hawaii.

Re: Photo USNAF Aircraft
Hi George. Thought you might like this unusual shot of a Marine SB2C-4 dated 23/10/45; unit u/k but at Jaluit Atoll ( seems to have a squadron badge under the cockpit).
The Jap CL is "Kashima" ---but has "Kasima" on the hull---re-patriating Japanese from the Marshalls to Japan; the escort is "Thornhill" DE-195 which later went to the Italian Navy. The Helldiver has a patch of N/S Sea Blue as anti-glare in front of the cockpit otherwise overall Glossy Sea Blue, seen on some other SB2Cs and F4Us. Nick USMC photo .................. Re: Photo USNAF Aircraft
The photo shows an SB2C-4E of VMSB331, based at Majuro. The squadron sent two aircraft to observe the evacuation of Jaluit by the Japanese on 22 October 1945.

Re: Photo USNAF Aircraft
The black '807' on the fin is difficult to make out on the print. Assuming the numbers are the "last three", the obvious candidate is 48807, which was assigned to VPB151 on Tinian during the first half of 1945.

Re: Photo USNAF Aircraft
Hello,
Currently on ebay are two small collections of photos of USNAF aircraft. Alas I don't know enough to be certain whether both are WW.II or post war,but at least the photos from Los Alamitos are definitely from the Pacific side of the usa!.The photos can be found at: https://www.ebay.com/itm/37369615374...kAAOSwRE5acMtn https://www.ebay.com/itm/37369604952...4AAOSwNptb9Bra Regards, Clint |

Re: Photo USNAF Aircraft
The first set of photos appears to have been taken somewhere in the Marshall Islands in mid-1945, possibly Eniwetok. The PB4Y is presumably 59491 of VPB121, which used the Y code letter. I think that the two SB2Cs are 82974 and 82989 of VMSB331 or, if later in 1945, CASU-35.
The second set shows Navy Reserve F6Fs and TBMs at Los Alamitos in the late forties/early fifties.
