Ofw. Eugen Lude 13./J.G. 54

Dear gents,

Does anyone know more about the fate of Ofw. Eugen Lude. For my information he is MIA 25.12.44 in the area of Eupen, Belgium.

A other source say "Reportedly crashed into a forest near Duisburg. Buried Bonn-Düsseldorf, Grave 19 (A. Rosseels)".

Rgds, René

Hi Marc,

thank you too, even if I already knew this.

Hi Leo,

yes, I also had seen this. But I think the correct rank was Ofw.

The crash location should be near the Kottenforst near Duisdorf (today a district of Bonn). So he cannot be missing in the area of Eupen, Belgium.

It is indeed Ofw. Eugen Lude. I would like to see conformation of his crashsite. I also had 10 km SW Godesberg, but there is indication that he actually crashed near Vianden. He took of from Vörden at 11.08 Uhr in the Schwarm of Lt. Brill.

Of course I cannot confirm the exact crash location. But the mention near Kottenforst match with the place of burial the cemetery of Duisdorf.

10 km SW Bad Godesberg were also in this area.

Which speaks for near Vianden ?

The location Vianden comes from the relatives, but is a little bit uncertain concerning the original source. I had contact with them. I also do not know when he was buried in Duisdorf, that would help also.

Where does the location Kottenforst come from?

John

Unfortunately I cannot say certainly. I think from a old book of Werner Girbig. Yes, I know it is not the most reliable source.
