Unit code of BSDU?

Did the aircraft of the Bomber Support Development Unit carry a unit code? If so, what was it?

Regards,
Tom

Re: Unit code of BSDU?

Cheers, Martin. To the best of my recollection, I have never seen any photos of the units aircraft. Does anyone know of the existence of any such images?

Re: Unit code of BSDU?

Tom. Don't know if they actually used the codes but some representative serials if you want to check them out.....
Spitfire VB EP767
Mosquito II DD619
Mosquito VI NT181
Mosquito XIX MM638
Mosquito NF30 MV540
Anson I NK450
Tiger Moth II N9211

Martin may have more details

Re: Unit code of BSDU?

OS is not included in Flintham/Thomas's Combat codes. Post war the BDSU became the Radio Warfare Establishment with the codes 3U, V7, 4S. I would add Oxford HN372 to the aircraft at BSDU.

The code is listed as "O5" (number 5, not letter S). Aerial victory claims were made with the following aircraft (the Combat Reports list the serials and individual aircraft codes):

Mosquito NF.XIX (MM638) G
Mosquito NF.XIX (MM684) H
Mosquito NF.30 (MM797) K
Mosquito NF.30 (MV540) C
Mosquito NF.30 (NT276) B

Regards.
Tom
