Chris Goss has a spectacular aura aboutChris Goss has a spectacular aura about
740735 Flt Sgt A S R E Ennis

The above pilot was commissioned at the end of July 1941 after which he joined 158 Sqn, was awarded the DFC and DSO but then went to the Far East and was killed in action with 99 Sqn. I have all on his 158 and 99 Sqn careers but does anyone known what Sqn he was with in 1940-41? In his DFC citation it mentions a mission to Malta but that is all. Sadly, his DSO, DFC, medals and logbook were sold to an American collector when the family needed money. If they want them back, they will have to pay £25,000 plus.....

Hello,

I believe the mention of the Malta op was in Ennis' DSO citation, not the one for his DFC,

The then Sgt Ennis, piloted No.78 Squadron Whitley T4166 "R" to Malta for Operation "COLUSSUS" - The combined operations attack on the aqueduct at Traqino, Italy, in February, 1942.

Chris,

Of course, February 1941. Too quick on the trigger!
