Italian gold medals stolen at the Vittoriano Museum in Rome

Two italian Medaglie d'Oro al Valor Militare (Gold Medals for military bravery) awarded to the WWI italian heroes Ettore Viola and Nazario Sauro have recently been stolen at the Vittoriano museum locate in the Altare della Patria in Rome where they were on display.

Because the name of the decoration recipient is engraved on the medals, it's important that collectors are aware that these medals, when offered in the militaria, medals or memorabilia market, are property of the Museum and are coming from an illegal actions.

Thank you

I will wager that they were stolen on requests by collector(s), and unfortunately may "disappear". It would be very difficult to "fence" those items anywhere openly.
