Air Attack Catania 16 Jan 41

A number of German aircraft were damaged in an air attack on Catania (15-16 or 16-17 Jan 41 I am not sure). Any ideas who might have carried out the attack?

Re: Air Attack Catania 16 Jan 41

Not sure if you mean this one, but on 12 Jan 1941 there was a nighttime raid by 148 Squadron Wellingtons operating from Luqa.

Re: Air Attack Catania 16 Jan 41

In
Christopher Shores and Brian Cull with Nicola Malizia
Malta : The Hurricane Years, 1940-41,
there is no entry for the 14/1/41 & 15/1/41, nothing about Catania in the 16/1/41 entry,
but in the 12/1/41 entry (P 118-119) which recount the events mentioned by Leendert, there is the following sentence : "Three nights later nine Wellingtons repeated the attack, all returning safely in this occasion."
