Henry Wagner, 51 Squadron, Halifax navigator, PoW
https://insideeko.com/henry-wagner-d...y-passed-away/
from facebook: Bomber Command Veteran Henry Wagner passed away last night. Henry was an ever present at my Veterans Days, shaking many hands, signing loads of memorabilia and generally having fun. He was a great character, with a cheeky smile and fierce spirit. During WW2 he served with 51 Squadron as a Navigator on Handley Page Halifax. Henry was forced to bail out 18,000 ft over Holland, drifting into Germany he was eventually captured on Christmas Eve 1944. He had been on the run for six days. He recalled the freezing temperatures that the bomber crews had to cope with, so cold that often it would freeze his flying suit solid. He was sent as a POW to Stalag Luft VII. Thank you Henry, we are all grateful for your service all those years ago, god bless you .. Our thoughts are with your family and friends at this sad time Per Ardua Ad Astra...
