Type of aircraft in 117 ORAE
Does anyone know what type aircraft the 117 ORAE (117 OAARE) had in May 1942? On www.allaces.ru it had SB and some Pe-2 in June 1941 but then lists 8 SB in Sep 1942. The two incidents that I saw in May 42 only lists the killed as the pilot and gunner. Could they have been flying a Yak-4 which is a two seater and similar to the Pe-2 in looks?

Re: Type of aircraft in 117 ORAE
Try this in your google search box and select translate: 117-я отдельная разведывательная авиационная эскадрилья
The Russian wiki site has the most information, but if you keep scrolling through three or four pages you may come across links to Russian language forums that cover the subject. Just use google translate and if you are really enterprising you can log on and ask. You may be surprised how well informed and helpful many of the posters can be. Regards Oquaig |
