Macchi Mc202 10 June 1943

On this date at c1700 Spitfires of 249 Squadron shot down a Macchi that was apparently escorting a DO18 of 6 SeenotStaffel. Can anyone identify a loss of an Axis fighter at around this time? I am surprised an Italian fighter would be escorting an German ASR aircraft except perhaps to help locate an Italian squadron mate in the water?
