2 Polish pilots, 32 Squadron RAF, August 1940

Hallo,

I'm looking for help with two Polish pilots who served with 32 Squadron RAF during August 1940; P/O Jan Pfeiffer and P/O Boleslaw Wlasnowolski. According to 'MEN OF THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN' (1989 and 1993) and the two-volume history of the Polish Air Force by Jerzy Cynk these men joined the unit on August 18th and 8th respectively.

However the date for Pfeiffer must be wrong. He was involved in an accident on August 6th (F1180 Aircraft Accident Report), but is not recorded in the 32 Squadron ORB until the 19th. Wlasnowolski first appears flying on the 19th.

Can anyone please confirm the dates they were posted in to 32 Squadron ?

Regards,

Martin Gleeson.

Re: 2 Polish pilots, 32 Squadron RAF, August 1940

Hallo Gerry,

Thanks very much for that quick and informative reply. Exactly what I needed. The August 4th date for posting in makes more sense. I have the F1180 for Pfeiffer's August 6th accident in V7205. As there is no reference to this in the ORB or for either of them being posted in there seemed to be a problem somewhere !

As an aside have you any information on when the new edition of 'MEN OF THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN' might appear in the shops ?

Regards and thanks once more,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

No problem.
The revised editon of MoTBoB is now with the Fighter Association and has been for a while.

Research is still ongoing purely because the book has not been presented to the publishers yet. However, I am led to believe that it still their intention to print it and market it though.

Sorry if that is vague but I don't know any more than that.

Gerry

Hallo Kris,

Thank you for the links. It seems to be an excellent website, but unfortunately I cannot speak Polish.

Regards,

Martin.
