Dear all,

I would like to obtain more details about this particular airman. Is he still alive? If yes, do one happen to know his address or email contact?

I am trying to obtain a single picture of this airman, if possible.

What were the werknummer and codes of the Bf 110 F-4 he bailed out in 1942?

This is what De Zeng do have on his majestic work about the LW Officers:
CARSTENS, Fritz. (DOB: 26.10.19). 08.11.41 Lt., with 7./NJG 1. 25/26.06.42 Oblt., 7./NJG 1. 02/03.12.42 Oblt. in Stab III./NJG 4, WIA – Bf 110 F-4 hit by enemy aircraft fire near Juvincourt, bailed out. 02.02.43 Oblt., appt Staka 8./NJG 4 (to 21.04.43). 21.04.43 Oblt., appt Staka of 9./NJG 5. 01.44 in 9./NJG 5. 15.02.44 Oblt., appt Staka of 7./NJG 5 (to 18.06.44). Credited with 6 victories.

If alive he would be 96 this year so I wouldn't hold out much hope! He was a member of Gemeinschaft der Jagdflieger

The chances now of contacting former aircrew are diminishing daily. Better bet is family members-I have just contacted the son of a II/KG 53 pilot who still has his Father's material; the Father died over 10 years ago

Yes, this Generation is indeed taking off for the last flight...and you are quite right about trying to contact sons and grand-sons for help, Chris. Good advice!
