Given the amount of interviewing of veterans that Christian Möller did for his PhD thesis (which became the book), I'm sure his account is reliable.
Re NSG 2 and Hessisch Lichtenau:
28 March 1945
(BT 8736) 14.40: (strong indications NSG 2) ordered to transfer at once to Eschwege. Aircraft still unserviceable in Kirtorf to be made serviceable with all speed. Eschwege not serviceable for night landings. Preparations to be made early 29th to transfer to one or other of two airfields (Comment: not known here but slight indications one of them is Hessisch Lichtenau).
15.30: orders given for preparations to be made to blow up all aircraft which would not become serviceable.
(BT 8376) known that the two airfields to which NSG 2 was to transfer on 29th were Hessisch Lichtenau and Altefeld.
29 March 1945
(BT 8810) 07.00: most of Gruppe (strong indications NSG 2) arrived in Eschwege and since 06.00 on the move to Hessisch-Lichtenau. Comment: implements orders in BT 8736.
