Re: Loss of He 111 H-2 W.Nr. 5314 G1+GK of 2./KG 55 - place

Unfortunately, reports of Dundas and Forshaw are missing for the combat.
Curchin was not the only one to see the crash, pilots of Nos 238 and 303 also claimed to see a crash in the area. It is possible that pilots of No 152 were also involved, as Blue section reported two He 111s well off IoW, but IPR does not mention details, and PCRs are missing. As the aircraft was a straggler, it was likely damaged over the Solent, but there is not enough information to make any match.

Can the code of this aircraft be confirmed please?
BoB Then and Now states it was G1+BL, as do many other sources online as I have just found.
Others go for G1+GK - I am aware that last letter K would normally indicate 2 Staffel.

Does anyone have a total number of victories against the raid? I count 34-8-13 but not sure of this.
TIA

A quick scan comes up with 32-7-9. Either way not bad for 3 aircraft actually destroyed and one damaged! What were the RAF pilots thinking!

Is it based on John Foreman's book? If so he missed two destroyed by No 152 and a probable by No 213.
I do not know what they were thinking, but doubtless each one thought: got one!
I wonder if recently increased armour on He 111s led to this a bit exaggerated victory.

Not surprising-2 Sqns whose F540s are incomplete or poor. No mention from what I can see by anything for 213 Sqn

Duryasz's PCR is held at Sikorski Institute. No 152's IPR does mention three destroyed by Blue Section but with vague details. I do not know if scores were adjusted in 1942, though.
