Josef Jennewein

Jennewein served with 4./JFS5 before going to I/JG51. He had 5 claims in the west on the Channel. From a previous thread it seems he got a Blenheim of the 226 Squadron in the Le Havre area on the 15Oct41 and was involved in a over claim with others on a Spitfire of the 234 Squadron. Does anyone know about his three Spitfire claims on the 20Sep41 NW of Fecamp.

Hi Nokose,

This web could be helpful http://www.luftwaffe.cz/jennewein.html .
Tangmere and Northolt Wing Spitfires were certainly in fight with Bf 109s during Circus 100C to shipyard in Rouen.

Regards,
Michal

robert is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Josef Jennewein

Hi,

I think not all of their claims were Spitfires. They also brought down two Blenheims from 226 Sqn (Z7493, Z7494) and one of the later could be claimed by Jennewein as his 5th victory.

Robert

Re: Josef Jennewein

Thanks Robert & Michal. I'm trying to find out if the 3 Spitfire claims from the 20Sep41 are just overclaims on his part since the 15Oct41 has one verified and one shared. I've noticed some overclaims in his Ost front service.
