I'm looking for information about Me109 E, WkNr 4807 lost on 2 September 1940.

Thank you very much for lightning reply.
It seems that Lt Ruttkowski was Heinz Bär's wingman, shot down few time before Bär was himself hit and ditched in the Channel. (flying WkNr 3714 ?) Regards, Thierry |

1./JG51 Messerschmitt Bf109E-1 (4807). Shot down in combat with No.54 Squadron Spitfires and crashed at Nethersole Farm, Womenswold, east of Barham, 8.00 a.m. Believed that claimed by P/O G. D. Gribble. FF Lt Günter Ruttkowski killed. Aircraft 100% write-off.

Thank you very much. Is Lt Helmut ThörThörl's Me109 too in your database ? I found only Lt Helmut Thörl (1917), 02.09.40, Gefangenschaft, in Personalverluste des JG51. Regards, Thierry |

1./JG51 Messerschmitt Bf109E-1 (4850). Shot down by S/L J.A. Leathart of No.54 Squadron in combat over Maidstone and crashed in flames at South Poston, near Leeds Castle, 8.00 a.m. FF Lt Helmut Thörl baled out and captured badly burned. Aircraft 100% write-off.
Major recovery by London Air Museum. Complete Daimler-Benz DB601 engine salvaged with propeller boss, undercarriage legs, cockpit controls, instruments, and 7.92mm MG17 machine guns. Engine badge now held by Steve Vizard. |
