A question on tactics
I recently read in a book that the USN in 1942 had developed a tactic where is if a fighter was attacked from astern, it would fly straight towards his wingman so the attacker would be placed in front of the wingman and could be engaged. Anyone know if this was a standard Luftwaffe tactic too?

Re: A question on tactics
Don't think so. The tactic was developed by John Thach and called the "Thach Weave" and was first used in desperate circumstances at Midway.

Re: A question on tactics
Thanks Rob, I read it in 'Clash of the Carriers' by Tillman.
