Losses 4. / Zerstörerschule 2 Wunstorf (Memmingen)

Hello,

looking especially for two Losses from 4. Staffel/Zerstörerschule Wunstorf Airfield in Month May 1942

On 23. May 1942 Uffz. Karl Notjung lost his Life due to Mid Air Collision with AR68 between Wunstorf and Nienburg / Linsburg Area.

just six Days later... 29. May 1942, Gefreiter Dieter Hauff (FF) and Gefreiter Klaus Asbahr (BF) AR 96, died in the accident near Rethem / Aller.

Who can support with the GQM and especilly the NVM for this cases....

Best Regards,

streak98

Matti

Something is not quite Koscher here

You list
Ar 68 WNr 1937 PF+LM on 23 May 1942, and
Ar 68 WNr 9137 PF+LM on 29 May 1942

Since WNr 9137 is out of the question I would say WNr 1937 is correct, but I cannot really
see Uffz Karl Notjung being KIFA on the 23rd and the aircraft being destroyed once more on
the 29th.

Any idea?

I think it's only a format error, read it this way:

1942-05-23, Zerstörerschule 2, Ar 68 E, 1967, DB+JC, Borstel, 10 km nordwestlich Neustadt am Rübenberge, 30 km nordwestlich Hannover
Flugzeugführer mit Fallschirm abgesprungen.

1942-05-29, 4./Zerstörerschule 2, Ar 96 B-1, 4176, 2 km östlich Rethen, 11 km südöstlich Hannover/Aller
Zerstörerschüler Gefr Hauff, Diether, +
Bordfunkerschüler Gefr Asbahr, Klaus, +
Absturz infolge Motorstörung. Bruch 100 %.

Sorry, my computer and clumsy fingers did it again. As Gerhard said, a format error but also a wrong WNr. PF+LM was not 9137 but 1937.

Gentlemen

Thanks for the clarification

Matti, you are excused. Compared to Gerhard in sunny Germany we all have to remember our
freezing winter up north.

Gloves on!!

Cheers

Hi

Rethen is not on the river Aller, but Rethem is it (50km NNW Hanover).
According to Ancestry, the FF's name is Hanff.

best wishes

Tricky this one.
Since we are also given a second place indicator (11 km SE Hannover) I think it is Aller which is wrong
and thus Rethen and not Rethem which is correct....

Re: Losses 4. / Zerstörerschule 2 Wunstorf (Memmingen)

Hi Stig

According to Ancestry, Dieter Hanff died near Rothen an der Aller, Klaus Asbahr's died place is 2km O Retthen/Aller.
I have a connection to the Aller River here, so I believe that my location is correct.

best wishes
JoMe
