BF 110C , april 1st 1941. captured by Yugoslav's

Hi,
One BF 110C landed by navigation mistake at Kraljevo (Central Serbia) on april 1st 1941. Three member crew was captured, plane was carefuly inspected and flown by experienced yugoslav pilot( Zlatko Dimcovic) to Belgrade-Zemun and later to Veliki Radinci temporary airfield where is destroyed, on april 12th, 1941.

Could anyone have any info regarding the BF 110 C unit, code and crew identity and its fate.

THX & RGDS,
YASIG

Re: BF 110C , april 1st 1941. captured by Yugoslav's

Hi, just mannage to trace and scan doccumentation of captured BF110C4? at april 1st 1941.
Here is doccument scan, taken from the book "Kraljevski Avioni"

and shortly, transcript is as follows:

At april 1st 1941, german ME-110C4, flown at 15,50 hrs from Wienna, via Balaton(Hungary) to Turnu Severin(Romania) due the navigation error, landed at 18,30 HRS at Kraljevo airfield, central Serbia.
Crew,Lt. Hans Diehter,Uoff.Wilhelm Pries and mechanic Eugen Schaufelle was captured, plane is overpainted and few days later transfered to Belgrade and later to Veliki Radinci.

So, could anyone can to determine to which unit belongs this crew and possible BF 110 C4 code .
Also, the crew fate is uncertain, possibly just two week in capture and liberated by German occupation units after Yugoslavia's capitulation.

Re: BF 110C , april 1st 1941. captured by Yugoslav's

Hi
I have info, that it was Me 110 D-3 or C-4 of 7./(F)/ LG 2, on airfield where did they flow there was also II/ ZG 26 (in Bulgaria), both units were subordinated to Fliegerkorps VIII.
No units code.

I have put such data in my long article about: VVKJ in April War in 1941 vol. 1, in: Militaria i Fakty nr 29 (4)/2005, p. 35. All text in Polish.

In the second part was edited your attached Yugoslavian document.

Regrads,
Mirek Wawrzyński

Thanx Mirek it was great info, clearing some of my doubts about this BF 110 identity. I try to reconstruct the BF 110 fate and colours.

Hi,

A colour profile of this aircraft can be seen in the magazine HPM no: 5 of 2003, where it is said to have been a Me110C-4. Sadly no photo though.
