Jack Broughton RIP
Well this is sad news indeed, another of my heroes has crossed over. As a young man I was in awe of these warriers in their SEA camouflaged steeds.
So along with James Kasler, Larry Guarino, Robin Risner, (it was said he had only one good eye, but the sight of a hawk) Robin Olds, and others, America is much the poorer for their passing. They were handed an impossible job to do by 'run for cover politicians.' One pilot said there was only one of three ways out of Vietnam for them, 'be shot down and killed,' 'be shot down and captured' or 'be court martialled'. He said one was no worse than the other.... |
