Oblt. Heinrich Fröhlich, career in 6./JG11 and circumstances of death on 15.3.44?

Dear all,

Oblt. Heinrich Fröhlich served as a Nachtjäger in III./NJG3 before he was transferred to the Tagjagd in 6./JG11. He was credited with one confirmed victory (in daylight) as a Nachtjäger. Can anybody tell me if he also achieved a (confirmed?) Abschuss in 6./JG11, and what were the circumstances of his death on 15 March 1944?

Cheers and thanks for any details, Theo

I have a Lt. Herbert Frohloff of 6./JG 11 as KIA on 15.3.44. Is your data correct?

John

There was a Oblt. Heinrich Fröhling (*28-11-1908) in the III.(7.)/NJG 3 + St. NJG 6 with one (day) victory. On 03-04-1945 still assigned to the St. NJG 6.

Hello John and René,

Cheers and thanks for providing these details. Reason for asking is that in the LW Officers Career database the following info is presented, and I wanted to check if Fröhlich did indeed transfer to the Tagjagd (as some Nachtjäger did in fact). There's apparently a mix-up with two officers (Fröhlich/Froloff) in this instance:

FRÖHLICH, Heinrich. 14.12.41 Lt., 7./NJG 3 WIA - Bf 110 D-3 (D5+CS) crashed vic Oldenburg after combat with a Mosquito of 605 Sqdn. Credited with 2 victories. - [confused with FRÖHLICH, Heinrich. ?] FRÖHLICH, Heinrich. (DOB: 18.11.08 in Düren). 14.12.41 Lt., 7./NJG 3 WIA - Bf 110 D-3 (D5+CS) crashed vic Oldenburg after combat with a Mosquito of 605 Sqdn. 15.03.44 Lt., 6./JG 11 KIA - Bf 109 G-6 (Yellow 5) crashed at Lembrucher Bruch.Credited with 2 victories.

Best regards, Theo

do not forget: FRÖHLING, Heinrich. (n.d.) 7./NJG 3. Credited with one day victory. Survived the war (LW Officers Career database).

I think there's a mix-up with three officers (Fröhlich/Fröhling/Froloff).

The one wounded on 14.12.1941 was;

Lt. Heinrich Fröhling, geboren 28.11.1908 Münster
