Estonian DH.9s

I've just been reading a small article in an old "Small Air Forces Observer" regarding the Estonian DH.9s. 12 served in total.
The following are listed:

16 ex H9135
17 ex H9133
28 ex D651
29
30 ex D660
31 ex H9157
32 ex D9837
67
68
69
70
71

Has the former identity of 29 ever been established?
Were the final five new-builds, or?....

Thanks,
Andy

Re: Estonian DH.9s

Hello Andy,

According to the site at http://airhistory.org.uk/rfc/aircraft.html

Estonia serial 29 was formerly D693.

Checking the same page D1246 was also a gift to Estonia. I suspect that if you check the other serial ranges you should find the other ex RFC/RAF serials of the Estonian aircraft.

Regards,

Clint

Re: Estonian DH.9s

Clint,
Thanks for the link.
I've had a look through and failed to find any extras other than D1246 which you mentioned.
One thing I did notice was that D651 is quoted as becoming either 20 or 28, depending on different sources.
As it seems that Estonian serials in that period were cumulative, can either 20 or 28 be ruled out by virtue of being assigned to another type?

Re: Estonian DH.9s

Hello Andy,

Sorry that I sent you on a wild goose chase for serials 67 - 71.

With regard to cumulative serial numbers. Yes 18-23 were all Avro 504. So 28 isthe correct estonian serial number for the former D651. See http://britishaviation-ptp.com/avro_504k.html

Clint
