Messerschmitt Bf 109E-5
Dear All,
I am trying to find more information about the Bf 109 E-5. I know that 29 aircraft were converted on the production line from E-1 airframes by Arado (within W.Nr. Block 3854 - 3919, April-June 1940). However, I cannot find any technical details on the installation of the Rb21/18 camera in fuselage segments 3/4, and information about the operational use of these aircraft is rather limited as well (apparently most ended up in the Jagdgeschwadern?). So far, I've only found a couple of photographs of E-5s - two color images of W.Nr. 3891 with 9./JG 26, and another one of an aircraft lacking unit markings, with Stkz. xx + GE (probably GA + GE). I would be most grateful if anyone could provide further information on this rather obscure variant. Being somewhat of a Bf 109 fanatic, I am enquiring about this out of personal interest, and also to help out someone who wants to model W.Nr. 3891. Many thanks in advance! Kind regards, Peter Van Roy |
