Re: JG 77 victories

Thanks Michael,

I also have that Heyer's victims possibly include the P-40 of 154 IAP's Kapitan Georgiy Glotov KIA. Can you help ascertain whether this was his claim at 0713 or 1149 or did another pilot likely down him.

Also, I understand that 4 GIAP-KBF lost deputy CO Major Aleksey Il'in WIA and the Kommisar of 2AE, Starshiy Politruk Grigoriy Semyonov during the course of the two actions fought by the unit on that date.

Have the victors of Il'in and Semyonov been determined?

Nick

Re: JG 77 victories

Nick, I haven't found anything yet to decide on Glotov. Heyer scored at 07:13 and then again at 15:37 but Klemm shot down a MiG-3 just before at 15:34. So I'm not sure as of yet.

As of the other two it seems to be Mueller.

Re: JG 77 victories

In Prien's JFV 9/III for III./JG 77 there is a listing that an unknown pilot recorded a kill of a Il-2 with no location and time. Between 18:28-18:30 (M) the 3 GIAP and 4 GIAP KBF escorted a group of Il-2 from the 57 ShAP KBF for an assault in the Arbuzovo region. One Il-2 flown by flight co St. Lt. Aleksey Vasil'evich Nenashev was KIA at Peski directly across the river. It doesn't say how he died but it could be this claim. Despite Soviet claims of 4 Bf 109 shot down there are no recorded losses by III./JG 77 and JG 54.

Re: JG 77 victories

For those of us who don't have the Prien books: we're still talking about 30 September 1942 with this "no name claim"?

Re: JG 77 victories

No, sorry my fault! 01 Oct 1942. It would be a good investment in getting Prien's JFV series. It has many more claims then on Tony Woods list and corrections but TW has heights that Prien's books doesn't always have.

Re: JG 77 victories

Yes, I wish I had collected the Prien books from the start.
...Anyone know of a good source for the back issues....?

Here are some JG 77 victory matches and queries that I have:

26.6.41:
Hugo Dahmer of 1/JG 77 in the far north downed an SB of 137 BAP and there were apparently two losses. Does anyone have the crew details and who claimed the second loss, if indeed anyone did?

On the same date Oblt. Setz and Uffz. Vogel of 4/JG 77 downed two SBs of 45 SBAP. There were two that spudded in at once and another that forcelanded in Russian territory. Does anyone have crew details?

27.6.41:
Walter Hoeckner of 6/JG 77 claimed an SB. Was this actually the Ar-2 of 132 SBAP lost in combat with fighters around 1412 ST? Crew of Lt. Yelovskich, Lt. Moskalenko and Rodionov

2.7.41:
Lasse und Riehl of 9/JG 77 claimed 3 x DB-3s. Were these actually from 22 DBAD, 4 DBAK? 2 DB-3Fs of 11 DBAP and 7 crews MIA. Another source says only 2 went down, they were SBs. Can anyone clarify...?

...More to follow...

Nick

Another good source for these titles is http://www.christian-schmidt.com/

You can pay with a credit card which saves all that currency conversion hassle.

Re: JG 77 victories

I found these relating to III/JG 77 in the Leningrad region. From Prien's JFV 9/III it has listed on the 08 Sep 1942 Stab III no name, time and location one Pe-2 shot down. No claims by JG 54 for a Pe-2 on that day. In Soviet records there was a Pe-2 from the 4 GBAP flown by Gds. Kapt. Mikhail Vladimirovich Sinitsin that was shot down by a fighter near Sinyavino. The flight commander and all his crew were listed KIA.

Re: JG 77 victories

Have one more for III/JG 77 in the Leningrad region for the 12 Sep 1942. Stab III Hptm. Kurt Ubben shot down a Pe-2 (Unk victory #) 14:01 PlQu. 10193. In this area Putilovo a Pe-2 from the 4 GBAP was shot down by a German fighter the gunner was KIA.
