Re: Lt Frank Henderson 96th FS
Hi Martin, good question. Mostly something that is overlooked. I thank udf 00 for answering your question.
So we now only need the details of Green's and Henderson's aircraft. Alex |

Re: Lt Frank Henderson 96th FS
Well I have learned something
Only the Americans could call a Fiscal Year 1943, but have the first six months of it in 1942. Accountants have a lot to answer for Martin |

Re: Lt Frank Henderson 96th FS
Hi,
From what I have been able to find. The "8th &9th AF losses" volume 1 give the 82nd FG losses while under 8th AAF command as being Nil. But after transferring to the 12th AAF they give losses as being - 1 missing - 7 Salvaged - total =8. My search has found the following for the period in question. 16th December 1942 2Lt, Scott K, GILES - P38G-1-LO , 42-12753 - 82FG/96FS. 2Lt.Jack G, WALKER - P38G-15-LO , 43-2105 - 82FG/97FS. 2Lt.Frank H, HENDERSON - ??-????? - 82FG/96FS. 17th December 1942 2Lt. Milo E, RUNDALL - P38G-5-LO , 42-12814 - 82FG/96FS. 23rd December 1942 2Lt.Earl T, GREEN - P38G -??-????? - 82FG/95FS. 2Lt. Arthur V, BRODHEAD Jr - P38F-15-LO , 43-2098 - 82FG/95FS. 2Lt.Theodore S, MILLER III - P38F-5-LO , 42-12610 - 82FG/97FS. Captain. Buddy A, STROZIER - P38G-5-LO , 42-12825 - 82FG/96FS. There is a small issue however as I found that - 2Lt.Miller is also noted as being lost into Spain on the 16th December 1942. He may well have been which makes his 23rd December 1942 questionable ? Re: Lt Frank Henderson 96th FS
Hello udf 00,
With regard to your note o the Fiscal Year question, I would like to hear your thoughts on the following. "360610 Droz, Paul C.- 77PS - P-36A - 38-077 - Barksdale Field, Shreveport, LA". Also Joe Baugher's Site - 38-77 (20 PG, 77 PS) crashed 3 mi E of Millstadt, IL Jun 10, 1936. Lost control and pilot bailed out. |

Re: Lt Frank Henderson 96th FS
First YP-36 delivered Wright Field in March 1937.
First P-36A 38-001 delivered in April 1938. A loss in 1936 seems unlikely. |

Re: Lt Frank Henderson 96th FS
Alex. UDF may have something to add but from 28/10/41 (T.O.07-1-1) the serial / designator was to be not less than 4 digits, excluding the Fiscal Year number; eg.
40-52 would read 0052. So 38-77 is right for 1938. Also to be painted on by the manufacturer rather than in service, which is why there could be slight variations. http://www.oldwings.nl/misc/show_ima...htm,type=photo Regards Nick PS should have mentioned 38-77 was lost 10 June 1938 2/Lt. P C Droz at Barksdale. Last edited by Buckeye30; 19th November 2022 at 11:36. Reason: added |

Re: Lt Frank Henderson 96th FS
Thank you both for your responses.
I thought it odd but as more than one site gave the same details is why I put the question. So 1938 is the correct date. Thank you, Alex |
