Re: I./JG 76 losses on op. Market Garden

Andreas,

As written by Lorant and also I agree IV./JG 300 was formed from I./JG 76 beginning October 1944. Planes were flown to IV./JG 300 between 4-10 october...so from 4th I think it may be reported as IV./JG 300 loss and also mismatched to JG 76.
However if there is loss report to IV./JG 300 before this date, I believe that order to rename the unit came earlier and someone already applied it before it was valid?
My opinion
regards

Re: I./JG 76 losses on op. Market Garden

Hi

Have checked, and the renaming is mentioned in the intro to the strength returns of October 10th 1944.

I think we should check the records I have agains Johns and see what we come up with however.

One questioon to John - what units were subordinated to 3. JD at the time?

Regards,
Andreas B

It's an little mistake in reports because these W.Nr. didn't exist.

Re: I./JG 76 losses on op. Market Garden

The documents I have all list I./JG 76. I don't have NVM of these losses so I don't know what they say (if they exist). The werknummer 462495 was reported like I wrote.....

Of course, isn't your mistake but Erla didn't delivere an G-14 with such an W.Nr. ... so we have to take this number with an "?".

Best wishes

I know Rasmussen, but I did another check of the original source and what I tried to say there was no typo on my side. I understand this WNr. does not fit in the known ranges.

162495 seems to be a good guess, 1 is very close to 4 printed, althought an old plane for that date
