Hi,

Can anyone provide details over the loss of Feldwebel Martin Reciherzer - a fighter pilot who was killed in an air death in France on the 9th November 1942?

This is one of those losses that want to make you pull your hair out. It's been reported as WNr. 7008 per the Gen.Qu. losses, WNr. 2429 per Prien and friends, and now WNr. 2149 per Matti. Of these only the WNr. 7008 is duplicated. The WNr. 2429 loss, if an A-3, falls into a group of A-4s. Given the reported sub-type, Matti's info would seem to be the most logical result (and if there was correction from Prien, I haven't found it yet).

FW 190A-3, 2429, Reichherzer, Fw. Martin, , III., 7., JG 2, , , , , 08-Nov-42, WIA due to Luftkampf with Spitfires. DOW 9-Nov-42., Fw 190A-4, WNr. 7008 per loss., Lfl.3/Kanal, Gen.Qu.6.Abt. (mfm #7)-Vol.12; Prien, et al, Die Jagdfliegerverbände, VII, p.294; Ring, JG 2 loss list, p.9, , 8km nördlich Gamaches, bei Le Tréport, 100%, F, , ,

As Jim says, this is a little bit tricky case. When I compared different sources, it seems that 2429 is correct (this is mentioned in NVM). 7008 is obviously wrong. 2129, as I have, would be a valid WNr. for Fw 190 A-3. However, I believe, that in this case the version should be A-4. According to Bestandlisten, III/JG 2 lost in November 1942 five A-3s and two A-4s. The five A-3s are:
1942-11-07 Wnr. 2187
1942-11-07 Wnr. 137009
1942-11-17 WNr. 284
1942-11-18 WNr. 137008
1942-11-18 Wnr. 435
This is clearly A-4;
1942-11-23 WNr. 147061
The only possible second A-4 is:
1942-11-08 WNr. 2429 (or 142429).
Therefore, my conclusion is that we can forget 2129, which I gave and accept NVM info to be correct in this case.
Any other thoughts?

Matti

Just to warm up the cold tea:
142429 would have StKz BI+DB.
I have BI+DB listed in June '43 with Blindflugschule 10. So what´s correct?
TIA

Roland

Taking a sip from your cup, I have listed BI+DB as WNr 0142428.
Source is most probably Smith/Creek Focke Wulf 190 book.

Since we know how accurate some of their data can be, I just wanted to mention it as a point of discussion....

Cheers
Stig

Sorry, this website only lists StKz connected with WNr and unit - no sources.
But I have WNr 0142428 damaged 20% after an emergency landing =8-Feb-1943 close to Berques with III./JG 26.
