B-24 crew member diary

Hello,

I purchased the diary of a B-24 crew member that describes all his missions. Some people are also mentioned and I hope to find out who the person was and in what unit he flew with.

Here are some hints:

On 19 July 1944 he flew against Leipheim aircraft factory.
A Major Coggenshall (squadron CO) is mentioned.
On 6 August 1944 he went to Hamburg to bomb an oil refinery.
On 8 August 1944 he went close to Amiens, France to bomb a V-1 position

I have more information if necessary. Can anybody identify the unit already? I think there are also crew member names mentioned. He also wrote that he once had to take over the job of the bomb aimer when the usual one was not available.

Regards

Re: B-24 crew member diary

Roger,

As far as I can see then 458th BG is a good candidate when you match their missions with the targets you mentioned.
