Greetings from a newbie
I can't believe I overlooked this site!
My screen name come from the fact I grew up near a Douglas A-20 modification plant. As I research this wonderful AC, it's a pity more weren't preserved. |

Re: Greetings from a newbie
Hello,
I was involved in the restoration of two Douglas A-20,s some years ago, a DB7B and an A-20G-20 called Hell'n Pelican 11(2), from the 388 Bomber Squadron of the 312 Bombardment Group, previously called Gloria and before that Louisianna Belle, but only to museum standard not flyable. The DB7B is now in the RAAF Museum at Point Cook near Melbourne Australia, the A-20G is still at RAAF Base Amberley which is near Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. I think that there is another A-20G under restoration to flyable condition out here as well which is one of the aircraft that was recovered from a swamp in New Guinea to provide parts for the aircraft that we were restoring, it was called Big Nig, and I did hear that another flyable aircraft will be comming to Australia some time in the future. So don't feel too down hearted, there are still some around even if they are not near where you are. Kindest regards, Don. |
