Request from Hugh Sebag-Montefiore

An English historian who I am in contact with has asked me to post the following request:

Historian Hugh Sebag-Montefiore is hoping to find vivid or dramatic accounts written by Luftwaffe pilots who attacked the arctic convoys during World War 2. This is in connection with a book he is writing about these convoys and the battles in the Arctic during 1942-5. The book has been commissioned by British publisher Harper Collins. He is also seeking accounts by German sailors who served on ships or U-boats that attacked or threatened to attack these convoys. If you want to see what kind of books he writes, google ‘Hugh Sebag-Montefiore Official Author Website’.

If you can help, please email him at e-mail, sebags@hsmontefiore.com or PM me via this forum.

He has been in contact with me some time ago you might like to note. I think he will be lucky to get anything that has not been published before

Re: Request from Hugh Sebag-Montefiore

Seems Mr Sebag, is publishing at a high-rate tempo, nd not on tiny things of History, Catherine the second, Staline, Potemkine, maybe Peter the Great...where some people in such subject spent a whole life, he will be kind enought to give hardly 3 months, he will probably run in the history of the convoys like an havoc, nd sink them ...definitivily

His book 'Dunkirk: Fight To The Last Man' is very good.

.. Alexander Steenbeck's history of KG 26 'die Spur des Löwen' has one or two lengthy accounts..as does Roba's 'Hydravions de la Luftwaffe' specifically the volume dealing with the He 115-equipped 1./406, one of the last Luftwaffe units still flying the type by July 42 (PQ 17).

Re: Request from Hugh Sebag-Montefiore

Hi guys

To anyone who may be interested - my latest effort (compiled together with the assistance of TOCH members Stig, Nokose and Val) - THE DEFENCE OF MURMANSK and the ALLIED CONVOYS 1941-1942 - may hopefully appear by the end of the New Year.

Seems that we may overlap somewhat.

Cheers
Brian

Re: Request from Hugh Sebag-Montefiore

Gentlemen,

Hugh would like me to pass on his warm thanks for all your contributions to this discussion. He is particularly grateful to FalkeEins for his mention of the relevant volume of Roba's 'Hydravions de la Luftwaffe'. He has already been made aware of Alexander Steenbeck's KG 26 history, a copy of which he is looking for.

Kind regards,

Dan
