triva question
This may have been on the board before, but, who was the last USA/USN/Marine fighter pilot killed in the Pacific theater in WWII?

Re: triva question
The last pilots KIA during WWII were from VF-88 that was engaged by Japanese fighters near Tokyo shortly after hearing the message announcing the end of the war.
I'm away from my books, and on the Internet I saw either that three or four pilots were shot down. Given that only two of the 6 intercepted F6Fs were not shot down, the lost pilots were shot down in an unknown order, so it will be difficult to find the last one. |

Re: triva question
Thanks Laurent. Some other people have come up with 4 losses from VF-88 that day plus a 78th FG P-51.
As you say, difficult to know which was last. |
