eBay: Bf 109 E-1. "Gelbe 10". 3./JG 2 & Personal emblem.

Hi Gents,

Some gift early in the morning ...
I told you (or just to Falcon?) there was an emblem - a personal one - which looks like a Mickey mouse .... similar to Jaenish one.

From Osprey's- Aviation Elite Units. 001. Jagdgeschwader 2. 'Richthofen' by John Weal is this photo, is this the same Yellow 10 and could it be flown also by Gunther Seegar?

Different Chris. Unless it had a completely new paint job and entirely new markings painted on. Check distance between rear of canopy and the '10' numerals. I wonder if though the same pilot would have flown this 'Yellow 10'?

Hi Friends,

Different plane for sure.

However, Uffz. Günther Seeger crashed two times:

One "Gelbe 12" on 03-May-1940; 20% Trier-Euren Fl.Pl. Bf 109E-1.
one "Gelbe 10" on 10-May-1940; 100% at Bassenheim Fl.Pl. Bf 109E
Most probably the one in Chris attachment. (Mombeek, JG 2 Vol 1 French edition)

But: Check please the wonderful "Gelbe 10" with a Mickey mouse emblem page 65 of the same book.
Photo taken in September 1939 at Döberitz. Infortunately no pilot's name. Early camouflage.

Regards, Franck.

Yep, thanks chaps, and I have Seegar as the jockey of Yellow 9 for much of the time

I couldn't see the Mickey Mouse emblem on p65 Franck, I see Janish' mount on p46 but on p69 of Eric's Volume 1 there is Yellow 10 at Doberitz in September 1039 with a 'Mickey' emblem.

?? French edition??? On page 46 I see 21st of April 1938 ceremony (20th death of Richtofen) photos.
I'm talking about:
"Dans le ciel de France" Histoire de la JG 2 "Richthofen" by Mombeeck, Roba and Goss.

I bought one of these photos, but didn't pay too much attention to the "smear" under the cockpit (not really visible on the blurred print).

Hi Guys!!!!

Erik is on German edition for volume 1 ... Funny since he is changing photos and so on ... I like this guy.

Dénes nice to "see" you again. Well I think that even with your original it's not possible to "read" this emblem.

If I do consider the photo, page 69, french edition, I would say it's the same plane.

More important: does some nice fellow have a nice detailled photo of Jaenish mickey mouse???

Tschüss, Franck.

Hello,

You will find one version of Ofw Franz Jaenischs' personalised Mickey Mouse emblem in the following publication:

Scale Aircraft Modelling (UK). Vol.4, No.9. June, 1982. p.422.
Aircraft of the Aces - Werner Molders. by Michael Payne.

It is a good close-up shot of the emblem on the port side, immediately behind, and below the cockpit canopy. No other markings are visible, but the aircraft has the dense mottling associated with JG 2 aircraft

Sorry, no scanner. Perhaps Chris Goss can help. l believe he has some of the late Michael Payne's collection.

Col.
