Sanderson 602 Sqn
Has anyone a record of a pilot named Sanderson flying with 602 Sqn 1942-43?

Re: Sanderson 602 Sqn
Chris,
Probably John (Jock) G. Anderson, born in Bordertown, South Australia (1921-1990). In what I read online in Aces High he served in 602 Squadron early in 1942. Later on he first went to the Med before returning to Australia as flight commander in 452 Squadron. Regards, Leendert |

Re: Sanderson 602 Sqn
Thanks but this chap is named as Sandy Sanderson not Sandy or Jock Anderson so I am not convinced. One of the chaps with him in the photo was killed with 602 25 Apr 42 so that dates it as early 1942

Re: Sanderson 602 Sqn
Chris,
In the online book "A Very Unusual Air War: From Dunkirk to the AFDU" it reads: "Australian Sgt John Anderson was a member of 602 before joining 452 Australian Squadron. On one of our ops his Spitfire was badly shot up and I have a picture of Sandy crouched beneath his wing, looking up through a gaping hole where the cannon shells had struck. Luckily Sandy himself was uninjured..." Regards, Leendert |
