Bf 109 mit marking for 13 ships sunk

Good night for all.

Currently selling here (https://www.ebay.de/itm/115068333190...gAAOSw44VhetfL) is the rudder of a Bf 109 showing at least 13 sunk ships.

Do we know the werknummer (not visible for me at least) or the possible pilot of this machine?

Good luck for the winner.

A.

Re: Bf 109 mit marking for 13 ships sunk

Sure it is Chris.

Am interested in knowing about the Bf 109 and its pilot. Sadly we can not see the werknummer on this image...but maybe some of you already saw a similar shot of this machine previously and can confirm the identity of its pilot, or unit.

Re: Bf 109 mit marking for 13 ships sunk

This might be a JG 77 aircraft. I have seen at least one other Bf 109 of this unit with a number of ship kills on the rudder.

I also remember something about that being the unit record, rather than an individual aircraft or pilot.

Re: Bf 109 mit marking for 13 ships sunk

I have seen JG 77 machines with this kind of sunk ships markings as well as LG 2 machines (which I have a partial rudder photograph). Could it be an earlier LG 2 machine?

Could be JG300. At least one other former bomber pilot, Gerhard Stamp, displayed ships on his Bf109 rudder.

Re: Bf 109 mit marking for 13 ships sunk

Referring to Gerhard Stamp, didn't he just transfer the markings from the Ju 88 he flew during his time with LG 1 to this aircraft perhaps?

From another site, some other possible candidates:

Bf 109F-4B, Blue 1, W. Nr. 7629 from 10. (J)/JG 2 as flown by Oblt. Franck Liesendahl.

Bf 109E-7, White 2, W. Nr. 109 4931 from I./LG 2

Bf 109F-2, White 1, W. Nr. 8282 from JG 77 as flown by Oblt. Wolfdieter Huy.

Re: Bf 109 mit marking for 13 ships sunk

The well known machine from Liesendahl do carry 6 ships markings (this is what I counted)

The machine of Huy did carry 9 ships markings (this what I counted on a photograph)

THIS photo do have at least 13 ship markings on the rudder...so, it is either recording the Staffeln success or a very successful pilot.

The partial photograph I do have may be that of this machine from I./LG 2 with ship markings on the rudder. I have never seen a full shot of this machine, though. It "may be" the same machine shown on the image....

Re: Bf 109 mit marking for 13 ships sunk

By the way, I asked the seller if he can inform the werknummer of the machine so we will be able to find its unit and possibly its pilot....but he had not answered me yet.
