Post Uffz. Willi Paulus

Uffz. Willi Paulus JG-300 was credited for shooting down 427 Squadron Halifax bomber LW551 18 March 1944 near Frankfurt, and was subsequently shot down 13 June 1944 over Weilheim/Oberbayern. Willi was awarded the EK 1 and 2 Fighter Operational Clasp.

I am looking for help to learn more about Uffz. Willi Paulus Luftwaffe career.
- did he serve with another unit before JG-300
- did he serve on the Eastern front
- where was he stationed when with 6/JG-300 and 5/JG-300
- who shot him down 13 June 1944
- where is he buried

Thanks you for your help!

Re: Uffz. Willi Paulus

I have Uffz. Willy Paulus, geb. 26.09.1923 Andeln a.d. Mosel, as KIA on 13.6.1944 near Weilheim/Obb. At that time he belonged to 5./JG 300. As his burial location is not in the VDK Datenbank I am pretty sure he was buried in his hometown Andeln a.d. Mosel.

As his EM was 2./Fl.Ausb.Rgt. 63 -2140- I would assume he started his operational career with JG 300.

Re: Uffz. Willi Paulus

Can someone give me a breakdown of what “ EM was 2./Fl.Ausb.Rgt. 63 -2140- ” represents. What is EM and what does the -2140- represent? I understand the regiment info.

Re: Uffz. Willi Paulus

EM is "Erkennungsmarke"....his Dog Tag.....he received his basic training with 2. Kompanie Flieger Ausbildungs Regiment 63. He received also his EM there. The number -2140- is the individual number.

Re: Uffz. Willi Paulus

Hi! Apparently the book “Jagdgeschwader 300” by Lorant & Goyat, provides some information On page 178 regarding the demise of Willi Paulus. If someone has access to this book, would it be possible to pass on the basic inflation contained in the book re Paulis? Thanks!

Re: Uffz. Willi Paulus

There is nothing specific on the loss of Uffz. Paulus in the book. Just that he was shot down by US Fighters.

Re: Uffz. Willi Paulus

Just as in JFV 13/VI. According to the loss table he was shot down over Weilheim in the Fw 190 G-3 WNr. 160676 red 7N.

Regards
Leo
