Sgt Reginald ernest Richardson 904833 RAFVR PoW ?

Hi,

Looking for PoW details on a Sergeant Reginald Ernest Richardson 904833, a 2nd pilot on 218 Squadron.

He is listed as a PoW at Stalag Luft L3 PoW number 248001. I think he may have served in the MTO from mid 1941.

However I cannot find him in FOTSOT by Clutton-Brock. Trying to establish when shot down?

TIA

Steve

Re: Sgt Reginald ernest Richardson 904833 RAFVR PoW ?

Steve,

all I can tell you is that he was (first) a POW of the Italians and was held in Camp No. 65 at Gravina (near Altamura). If he had a German POW number then he was removed to Germany in September 1943 presumably, after the surrender of Italy.
From file WO 392/8 held in Kew, sub-titled 'Italy; Imperial Prisoners of War, Air Forces'.

Regards,

Martin Gleeson.

You've updated your 2 year old question http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/sho...24315-PoW-Help

Quote:
The RAF Bomber Losses in the Middle East and Mediteranean by David Gunby and Pelham Temple record A.E Richardson 2nd Pilot, made PoW when shot down May 4th 1941 with No.37 Squadron. I believe this should be R.E Richardson, when cross checking the ORB against the Air78, the service number 904833 was allocated to Reginald Ernest Richardson. This error seems to have been duplicated in FOTSOT.
