cne Pierre Marie de L'Espinay (1918-94)
This pilot (b.1918) joined GCII/5 in November 1942 and served until the end of the war. I assume he was in the Armee de L'Air for some time prior to this. Can anyone tell me where and with what units he served prior to joining GCII/5. I would also like to know if he scored more victories, probables and damaged other than the two confirmed on August 1944 and March 1945. Jean Gisclon in "L'Escadrille Lafayette" states he had three confirmed victories but I have never found another mention of a third.
Also can anyone tell me the aircraft flown by L'Espinay when he made his claims. I know the two I have given dates for were P-47D types but assume these were early "razorback". regards Keith |
