Re: Photos Royal Aircraft Factory Aircraft

Thanks Nick

Yes I have the basic details, but didn't have the time to dig any further with regard to the actual photos (busy right now with German Noratlas production)

Since Clint is certain this is a BE.2c it thus has to be the serial 2741.

Cheers
Stig

Re: Photos Royal Aircraft Factory Aircraft

Just remembered this; looks like Clint's BE. The serial says BE2d but there's no wing tank.
Believed shot down by Frankl Aug. 9 1916 and flown as a single-seater after a balloon.

Re: Photos Royal Aircraft Factory Aircraft

Hello Nick,

That does look like the machine in my link and in both cases it looks like the machine gun is operated fronm the rear cockpit, which would point to the aircraft I posted being a B.E.2d and therefore Stig was correct in believing the machine was 5741. I guess for some reason the fuel tank was removed as you would be able to see it, if it was present in the link I posted. Thanks for the persistence.

Regards,

Clint

Re: Photos Royal Aircraft Factory Aircraft

Hello,

Currently on ebay is a photo of Royal Aircraft Factory F.E.2d A6480 'Colony of Mauritius No.5 of 20 Squadron RFC at:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Royal-Fly...MAAOSw9G1fZPTj

The same seller has a photo of a Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.5a B825* at:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Royal-Fly...EAAOSw-RJfZPPO

Were any USAAS operated machines in this serial range? as many of the surroundingg personel appear to be American.

Regards,

Clint
