Ungarn awards 1943
Hello,
In 1943 various German fighter units in the East operated together with Ungarn fighter units. German pilots involved were awarded with 'Ritterkreuz des Ung. Verdienstordens mit Schwertern' (issued in Budapest) and ungar. Auszeichnung ('fliegender goldene Adler mit ungar. Krone'). Who has more details on these awards and can provide a list of pilots who were awarded these medals? Thanks in advance. Best wishes, Rob |

Re: Ungarn awards 1943
Hello Rob,
As I wrote you in an e-mail, I have not the full list of the German recipients, but I have many names. By the way, the first award was the Hungarian Knight's Cross (it was not worn in the neck, it was a medal style award, was worn on the left chest). The Hungarian Golden Eagle was the Hungarian pilot badge - some Hungarian pilots got Croat, Italian, German and Bulgarian pilot badges as well, it was not very rare. I snet a full list of the Hungarian KC recipients from the I./JG 52 to Bernd, maybe he will publish it in his book (or not). See you soon, Csaba |
