333 Norwegian Sqn Northrop N-3PB

Hi guys

The N-3PB floatplane crews of 330 Squadron (corrected, not 333) were apparently credited with damaging eight aircraft - FW200, BV138, Ju88 - during sorties from Iceland during 1941-42.

Despite accessing the ORB, I have only found one combat. This occurred on 23 July 1941 and involved a FW200, which was claimed damaged.

Anyone able to provide further information, please?

Stay safe
Brian

Re: 333 Norwegian Sqn Northrop N-3PB

No access to 330 ORB but Björn Hafsten and Tom Arheim has published THE book
about the Norwegian naval aviation, including their WW 2 activities.
To say that this labor of love is a goldmine, is just too simple.
Unfortunately it is in Norwegian and beside some "funny" Norwegian words (sorry Björn) it is
perfectly readable for anyone from Sweden.
28 April 1942 John Bauer B-flight had an encounter with a Fw 200
23 June 1942 Bredo Thurmann-Nielsen a very short encounter with a Fw 200
23 July 1942 again Thurmann-Nielsen again a Fw 200
29 July 1942, yes Thurmann-Nielsen and another Fw 200
9 Oct 1942 W.W. Bulukin and an encounter with a Bv 138
(10 Oct 1942 Carl Fredrik Krafft Lockheed Hudson, attack abandoned after verification)
16 Oct 1942 W.W. Bulukin, encounter with a Fw 200
17 Oct 1942 "fenrik" Engebrigtsen again an encounter with a Fw 200
(30 Oct 1942 W.W. Bulukin an encounter with a Bv 138. Bulukin came out short
and probably never made any claim?)

My apologis to Björn, who of course is way more capable than me to answer this,
but since his book is one of the absolutely best books ever written, I just had
to state this!

Cheers
Stig

Stig,

You tantalize us with the perfect book (Marinens flygevåpen 1912-1944) published in 2003, and apparently out of print. And not available from my (only?) Norwegian source. Any idea of a bookstore which has a copy?

Enjoy!

Frank.
