Identity of RK Träger poss. NJG5 late 1943
Dear all,
I'm trying to establish the identity of this Ritterkreuzträger, possibly NJG5 in late 1943, the photo was taken possibly at Neuruppin during a visit by Reichsmarschall Göring. Who can help? Cheers, Theo |

Re: Identity of RK Träger poss. NJG5 late 1943
TO ME, it looks like Helmut Weinreich. Formerly with the KG 30 (he had been awarded the Ritterkreuz after 320 missions), he joined the "Wide Sau" in the early autumn of 1943. As Kommodore of the new JG 301, he was KIA 18.Nov. 1943, crashing during landing following a combat mission after downing a RAF bomber over Mannheim (FW 190A-5 WNr.151482).

Excellent -many thanks for these details, it really looks like Weinreich! Photo was probably taken a few days before he was killed in action.

Ialso believe that it is Major Helmut Weinreich who was killed on the 18th of November 1943 during a landing at Frankfurt am Main (Fw 190A-5 Werk 151482). He was a Wilde Sau pilot in JG 301.
