Re: Photo Short Aircraft

Hi Stig,

I intended the S.41 to refer to Short's construction number - the future Navy number 10. I thought given the lack of markings that it was unlikely to be a Short Improved S.41 RNAS serials 20 & 21 where the serial appears on the tail.

I thought the Short construction number 38 was a pusher, not so?

Regards,

Clint

Re: Photo Short Aircraft

He he Clint

I haven't started looking yet. All I wanted to know was what you referred to, so thanks for answering.

I think some time ago the Short works numbers were more or less re-worked by a man called Gordon Bruce and perhaps the flip side refers to a time before that?

Anyway now that I know what you refer to I will look at the photos again and check my Short records

Cheers
Stig

Nice find as usual.
I would say 8225 is correct, but the next one is 8636 which is known to have been delivered
to Yarmouth by road in April 1916, erected one month later and accepted 21 June that year.

8638 on the other hand never went to Yarmouth but Calshot.

Since No 824 spent close to a year onboard HMS Campania in 1915 I feel it is quite likely
it is either on or off lifted that ship in the photo.

Cheers
