Fw 190 of II./SG.2

Hello,

Can anyone provide details of the losses of the Fw 190 of II./SG.2 on the 30.05.1944?

Thanks
Oleg

Matti

That is a strange WNr you quote.
As per the lists I have consulted there is no such WNr anywhere in the Fw 190 ranges.

The problem is also it seems way off.
Any other losses in that range (or production for that matter)?

Cheers
Stig

Stig,

WNr is not correct, but it is what the NVM gives.
F-3 was built only in block 67**** and 6059 doesn't fit to it. 059 could fit and be 670059, but why such WNr in the NVM? I am puzzled. Maybe somebody, who has better knowledge (Gerhard?), knows.

Yes quite odd indeed. Usually one would have one or sometimes two digits wrong, but then in a sort of scrambled way.
Not so here....

Re: Fw 190 of II./SG.2

The reported number seems to be completly misswritten.

The A-5 series from Arado ended 6024.
The other possibilities 1760xx, 2060xx and 4260xx were all manufactured late 1944.

As Matty suspected the F-3 670059 remains the only possibility, for that one I have no loss report.

Re: Fw 190 of II./SG.2

Thanks Gerhard

Good to see there is some unification behind the theory WNr 670059 is the aircraft in question.

Main equipment of SG 2 at this time seems to have been the the F-3 and F-8 models, so the sub-type F-3 is also very reasonable.

Just for the sake of argument here, can we entirely rule out the F-8 WNr 580059?

Cheers
Stig
