Re: Seeking for information about a FW 190 crashed o 17-8-1943 i Lummen, Belgium
Hello Rudy, (I presume this is your name, nothing related with Rudi Simons by the way ?)
Well, if you are sure about the date, FW 190 A-5 WNr. 151243, black 22, of 5./JG 26 should be a candidate, depending of the pilot's fate. In this case, he survived. The aircraft was hit by B-17's gunners. Its pilot, Uffz. Heinz GOMANN, was especially lucky that day as his chute was caught by the tail of his aircraft; he was fred by chance just before hitting the soil. Albeit wounded, he survived the war. In the past, someone here has quoted also a German fighter lost near Beverloo that day ("Genemer"). I am wondering if this is the same spot or a different one. Be aware of the Flemish rules concerning (aircraft) digs. Best regards ClinA-78 |

Re: Seeking for information about a FW 190 crashed o 17-8-1943 i Lummen, Belgium
Thank you all for the information!!!
I enclose a map with the crashplaces of the mentioned pilots. The "unknown" marking is the FW190 I'm looking for. Till now it was always a guess who was the pilot and the exact aircraft. I thougt that de partnumbers I gave could give us some help... These parts were digged up 30 years ago and at that time there were no rules... Many parts are still on the crashplace... The only hope I have is to know for sure what aircraft crashed over there... I would enclose a map with the crashplaces of the mentioned pilots but it doesn't work... They ask to give an URL for the image so I can't select an image from my PC... Rudy |

Re: Seeking for information about a FW 190 crashed o 17-8-1943 i Lummen, Belgium
Thanks to all of you for your help!
It's all very interesting information but after a research of 30 years I try to find out what the exact plane and pilot was. I thought maybe the numbers a gave above could help. I tried to place a map over here with the crashplaces from the German airplanes shot down around the crasplace I found. But when I select the icon "Insert image" they ask me for an URL so I can't upload a picture from my computer. Anyone an idea how I can do this? |

Seeking for information about a FW 190 crashed on 17-8-1943 in Lummen, Belgium
Hello gogh
I am almost certain that this aircraft was Fw 190 A-5 "Black 22" (W.Nr. 0150 1243) and part of the 0150 1040 – 0150 1488 werknummer block built by Focke-Wulf from January 1943 through August 1943. I hope this helps. Horrido! Leo |
