Re: I/JG4 ,30/06/44
I./JG 4 lost four out of eight Bf 109s engaged. It were the Mustangs of 52nd Fighter Group, which claimed four and suffered no losses.

Re: I/JG4 ,30/06/44
Thank you
Astonishing that Rohlfs(one of the protagonists involved) mentions 8 Bf.109 shot down, because having lived an experience that is difficult to forget:captured by Yugoslav partisans....these are facts that we don't forget. Michel |

Re: I/JG4 ,30/06/44
Also 5 Macchis of Kro.JGr 1 (including Helebrant and Bartulović on MC.205s) were shot down, and only Bencetić on MC.205 returned to base.
As far as I remember only P-51B-10-NA 42-106556 (pilot George R. Burden) 5th FS, 52nd FG was damaged on landing. Victories were claimed by: Carnie Robert Franklin Dwaine Jr Holloman Joseph W Zoran |

Re: I/JG4 ,30/06/44
Rohlfs was here, yes, but probably too busy to save his life being shot down to accurately count the Bf 109s shot down. This number of 8 may have been given to him by the Partisans, or may include the Croatian losses as well as those of I./JG 4.
