Spitfire V AD581 (UZ-M)
According to various entries for Spitfire V AD581 (UZ-M) it crashed in Ruislip, Northolt and Harrow. Can anyone pin it down to a particular street?
It was flown by Sgt S. Czachla, of 306 Sqn who was injured when he ran out of fuel after patrol over Dieppe and crash-landed at residential area on 19.08.1942. NB some say it was AD591, with is incorrect https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...3efb0013f1.jpg

AD581 crashed at Field End Road, Eastcote at 0715 hrs-engine failure due to fuel shortage-sticking gauge apparently!

Re: Spitfire V AD581 (UZ-M)
Many thanks Chris, Field End Road is very local so I can probably try for a comparison shot.
BTW I may take you up on your offer regarding Northolt

Re: Spitfire V AD581 (UZ-M)
Chris, Larry,
It is AD581 but not Field End Road. It is actually the adjacent Malvern Avenue. WojtekM and myself were there just a couple of weeks back with family members and guests and some wonderful original letters from the time were revealed. We plan to write this up for articles in our respective countries shortly. PeterA |

Re: Spitfire V AD581 (UZ-M)
Malvern Ave adjoins Field End Road, and if a pilot was lining up with the main runway they would fly along the road. Out of interest what number was it, not that I'm going to knock!

I seem to remember that someone on here knew which number of Malvern Ave this aircraft parked itself. Send me a PM if you know?
Thanks
